Arches made of elk antlers mark the entrances of the Town Square in Jackson, Wyoming. Most of the antlers came from the National Elk Refuge just to the north of town. When commenting on his painting, Mount Katahdin from Millinocket Camp, Frederic Edwin Church, the acclaimed Hudson River School painter of the 19th century, exclaimed that he had never seen the color, orange so vivid in the natural landscape.
