In the grain-growing areas of the west and mid-west these historic grain elevators dominate the built environments of small rural towns, railroad crossings and farm collectives. Many of them are no longer active, having been replaced by pre-engineered metal buildings. It is in far northern Franklin County, and we wouldn’t have discovered it without the help of a most accommodating border crossing officer at the Coburn Gore station. Apparently it was a mill of some sort. The moon was an added bit of serendipity.
