Beautiful morning – Flagstaff Lake from the Pines Market in Eustis, MAINE. John Orcutt July 6, 2016 Instagram You Might Also Like Enduring Heights , our first published photo book, will be available this August! Featuring photography of the natural environment of the Maine’s High Peaks, the hardcover book is approximately 12” x 12”, 132 pages with maps, several essays and over 90 color plates. To our knowledge, there is no book of this type about this area available. Angus King, US senator from Maine, has written the book’s foreword, and Wolfe Tone, former Director of the Trust for Public Land in Maine has written an essay, describing conservation efforts in the area. The High Peaks region is where Maine Huts & Trails, Sugarloaf and Saddleback ski mountains, Rangeley and Flagstaff Lakes, the Appalachian Trail, the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, the New England Mountain Biking Association trails and a number of other outdoor venues are located. We are planning a book launch for August 4 at the biannual Appalachian Trail Conference to be held at Colby College. There will be a second launch in Skowhegan, on the opening day of BikeMaine, September 9. The book will sell for $39.95 plus shipping and handling. We will sell it directly from the Schoolhouse Gallery, on-line through the Orcutt Photography web site and it will be distributed to a number of bookstores and retail businesses throughout the state. This first printing is for a limited number of books. We are offering free shipping for signed copies of the book for those who pre-order before August 1, 2017. If you would like to reserve a copy please contact us at corcutt86@gmail.com or 207-939-6518. May 29, 2017 A new photography exhibit called ISOLATED VISIONS will open this Friday, December 2, during the Kingfield Artwalk, 5 to 8 PM at the Schoolhouse Gallery. One of the greatest challenges in nature photography, especially in New England, is finding simple, striking images amid the naturally occuring chaos and complexity of the landscape. This exhibit contains photographs that capture isolation in the form of color, texture, atmosphere or location, almost all images are taken in the High Peaks Region of Maine. New images by John & Cynthia Orcutt are featured, and will remain on display throughout the winter, 2017.
