In the grain-growing areas of the west and mid-west these historic grain elevators dominate the built environments of small rural towns, railroad crossings and farm collectives. Many of them are no longer active, having been replaced by pre-engineered metal buildings. Their long term fate is uncertain, but as cultural landmarks we would like to find a way for their preservation. #grainelevators #grainelevatorphotography #grainelevatorart #montanalandmarks #montanaphotography August 5, 2023 Last month we visited Wood River, Nebraska to experience the Sand Hill Crane Migration. Over 500,000 of these magnificent birds were in the area at that time, leaving the Platte River sand bars in the morning, feeding in last year’s corn fields during the day and returning to the river in the evenings.
