We hiked the short trail to Hunter Beach and on the way back the heavens opened and we were soaked coming up the trail, slippery roots and all. #mt.desertisland #acadianationalpark #hunterbeach #wettrail #rainyday September 16, 2023 Red Maples (acre rubrum), usually the first tree to show brilliant fall foliage at the edges of bogs and other wetlands, are not sporting the scarlet hues we normally expect this fall. Visits to some of our typical haunts have not been successful with the dull maroon color exhibited.
