We have photographed this rock, which we call, “Lone Rock” several times in the past at Wolfes Neck in Freeport, Maine. In the grain-growing areas of the west and mid-west these historic grain elevators dominate the built environments of small rural towns, railroad crossings and farm collectives. Many of them are no longer active, having been replaced by pre-engineered metal buildings.
